Rear beam bushes - anyone ever fitted a set?
« on: 28 August 2007, 15:04 »
I bought a set of Powerflex bushes on Saturday and they came with new rear beam bushes, when I spoke to the guy in the shop I was told they can be really dodgy and the stud can snap  :undecided:

I'm basically asking, has anyone on here ever done the job? how easy is it? what are the chances of me getting a broken stud, any advice to make things easier etc... what to do if a stud does break.

:undecided: I've got a feeling this stupid bush will spend a long time in its box

yo dude i done mine with the purple powerflexies the other week, did all round front and rear. fronts took me about 2 hours in total but i am a patient slow worker that likes to use alot of wd40 and waits for it to soak in (this is a must!) every 10 mins keep giving it a spray.
wd40 the rear bolts the 2 bolts holding the bracket that holds the bush then do the other side. lower the beam then soak the old bush with wd40 (same again every 10 mins) then get a hammer and tap it off eaqually all round dont just constantly hit one side and expect it to come off you have to work it. then use the p/flex copper gease supplied with more grease of your own nd lube it all up even inside the bracket that holds the bush and all nuts and bolts then replace the beam.

when you undo the beam bolts, turn them 1/4 of a turn, then turn back, then another 1/4 then back etc.  This stops any dirt n crap building up in the threads which would cause the nut to bind and snap the thread!  Keep spraying more WD on it as you go too :)
