How can I tell what colour my car is?
« on: 23 August 2007, 09:28 »
I know all the paint codes are listed in a sticky, but I don't know what colour my car is to begin with. It was resprayed at a garage a while ago (now closed down), and I don't know whether they just used what they had lying about or a proper VW paint.

The finish is a metallic black, only way to describe it (as stupid as it sounds) is that it is a black with shiny silverish flakes in it, a sparkly metallic finish.

Is there anywhere I could take it to try and work out the paint used. I think its off one of the newer VW's but I can't be 100% sure. I tried to take a photo to show it, but it just looks gloss black in photos.

its unlikely that u'll be able to get the exact paint used unless you have a recepit for the respray & it details it there. but any good local paintshop will be able to colour match your paint

Nah, there is no receipt for it - I wiped all the company systems and servers when the company closed down - so theres no way of knowing. Doh!

Is anyone in Glasgow with a Pearl or Swartz black golf so I can compare. Failing that, a paint shop it is.
