not 100% but i think the 16v had 256mm and the 8v had 239... not sure about the rear discs..

upgrade wise, straight swap for the 280mm g60's, and these can be found on loads of dubs, audis and seats... just bolt off the hub and bolt on the new one and away you go... easiest brake upgrade around, plus its a standard part for easy to get replacement discs and pads from local factors...

noble tuned - and still not fast enough!

The 8v had 239mm front discs, and the rears (if it was fitted with them) are 226mm. Why do you want to replace the calipers, are they kapoot!?

No, calipers are fine for the moment thankfully, just incase in the future they get shagged. They are a bit rusty,is it all right to take them off and give them a lick of paint??The worst part is actually the covers that go around the discs, they are falling apart.Cant believe that some parts of the car have been serviced so well while other things have been completly ignored.

The tin plates that run around the circumference of the disc are still available from VW and are quite cheap. It's fine to remove the calipers and paint them, just be prepared to bleed the system afterwards.

Some people go for the Zimmerman discs and pads and recommend them, I think GSF stock these.
