The new 510 sat nav
« on: 20 August 2007, 21:48 »
Hello, has anyone got the new 510 satnav yet? I've read on other forums that it will only fit 2006 onwards? If you've got one, whats it like? As good as it sounds?

Previous thread here:

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=62026.0

I have an email address for the guy who sold one on eBay - PM me if you want it. He has access to others and was looking to sell at about Euro1450, however I am sure this may be open to some negotiation. He did ask what price forum users would pay, but I have never got round to posting the offer.

Never read anything about the unit not being able to be fitted to Mk 5 GTI's as it seems a straight swop/fit in the dash. My car is a 2007 model though.

Theres a potential issue with a now out dated version of the CAN-BUS used in pre 2006 cars. Its not yet been confirmed though but its a huge lay out for it not to work!!

I would be very interested if it did fit to a MY2005 car... hmmm, wonder if anyone will do an experiment?
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

Something very dodgy about that auction. I asked the seller a few questions and within minutes it was removed  :undecided:

Doesn't look like this e-bay auction is getting ,uch response at that price!!  No surprise there then...

I think once it gets below £1000 I might start to get interested...

I emailed the seller to tell him his price was way off and I would take it off his hands for £1000. He responded syaing he is buying them for more than that so no can do but he did lower the auction price by about £150. IMO he is still way off, I can get European models from the US for £1000 just not sure what to do.
