Motorpoint import
« on: 19 August 2007, 12:33 »
Hello all , new to this site and In fact to VW and to the Gti.

After doing a bit of research decided to purchase one of the Motorpoint Golf Gti,s , I am sure you have seen some of the pictures already posted .

Well in spite of this decided to take the plunge @£18K with 18 miles on the clock I have bought a car I could never have afforded otherwise (18 months old sitting in a field in Germany) 5 Door Silver, DSG, Xenons, auto changer, sunroof, cruise ,reversing sensors, 18 inch alloys etc. I estimate the same car out of a dealer would have been around 25k !?

The Good - Body work and paint  in fact immaculate , Inside- spot on actually smells quite new , everything working fine (to fine actually need to try and keep out of sports mode till run in , very impressive , despite coming from a BMW 330D Auto) also the 2 front tyres have been changed to Continentals , seemingly they don,t take kindly to being in the Mud for 18 months.

The Bad - under the bonnet - dust and alloy,s all furred up , alloy wheels worms and marks , which motorpoint have strangely agreed to repair, some surface rust between wheels and brake disc,s , I will fix this myself over the next few days , Motorpoint are not the best to deal with however know what to expect bought a new Mercedes C class about 5 years ago from them.

The risks ? only 3 months VW Warranty so purchased the motorpoint plan for £400 , later found out that the maximum payout is £1000 with £30 excess , so £430 to gain a £1000 if I had known that I would have kept the £400 and put it in a Bank account and held in case the unfortunate should happen.

The car is outstanding to drive and I am very happy with it , the DSG is unbelieable , smooth much smoother than the bmw , it is also much faster round the road although have yet to really test it but the figures speak for themselves , I have done 175 miles now the mpg is rather low at an average of 24 but most of the miles were in town I am sure this will improve.

Well thats about it , hello to you all and I will let you know how I get on  cheers.

I am new to this forum and I too have been tempted by one of the Motorpoint DSG cars.  The car I am getting is pretty much perfect apart from the 'worms' on the wheels. I saw five red cars and they were all the same.

Der1 I would be interested in who you are dealing with as the salesman I have spoken to said that the wheels would not be repaired.

Thanks in advance
