Apologies if this is not allowed, have posted in new members section too

Had a 1989 BMW 325i Sport which was mint on the outside, engine fine etc but found out later at MOT it was rotting everywhere underneath   I'm no mechanic and could not do a proper under car inspection when I bought it.

Anyhoo it hasn't put me off and now I'm after a Mk2 Gti (8v or 16v).

Have seen this one advertised:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/202750.htm

and would like your thoughts? did an HPI on her and she's fine apart from having 15 previous owners which always makes me wary.

Emailed the guy and also did DVLA reg check - SORN'd at the mo as tax ran out in July this year.

If anyone has clean example of a mk2 in Scotland then let me know, not after much just one that works!

Hope to get sorted with one soon and then become as obsessed as I was with the beemer.

Cheers

Seems a bit weird how it has a wonky rear big bumper and a small front bumper! Also, there must be a story behind the tailgate lock as it should run off the same key as all of the other locks. The tailgate may have been swapped complete with lock and just left like that.

If i were you, i would pay particular attention to trying to find accidnent damage at the front and rear. Just seems a bit weird with the bumpers, possible replacement tailgate and the respray may be to cover the damage

Cheers guys!

Regarding the respray, I emailed the bloke about it too and asked if it was due to accident damage, he said it was just to touch up the paint  :undecided:

will have to go and see it and check the front and arse of it!

The driver's side rear quarter looks a bit strange too near the sill. You can see it on that first pic, a slight mark on it. May just be the light though!

Another thing........ the rear right wheel looks like it is toeing in a fair bit. That may just be me or it may be the camera angle! Just have a good look around it, checking panel gaps all round and the boot floor for any distortion.
