I'm having my GTI serviced at a year old, even tough its on long life.  just oil and filter service, the car has done 5500 miles.

I personally wouldn't touch any car that had been on longlife - 2 years or 20K ? no thanks :shocked:

Annual, regardless of mileage, every time. Call me old school, but ........:wink:

My car as it is, is not on the longlife service programme (my old Golf was) - The general thought seems to I made the right decision sticking to scheduled servicing - good to hear as I thought I'd made the wrong decision when I collected the car!!

My car was on longlife servicing - as it is now having a new engine fitted I will probably move to time and distance but keep using the longlife oil...

Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

Something to do with a ticking noise and sounding like deisel if memory serves. Took the whole engine apart and couldnt fix it so throwing in a new engine.

LongLife servicing does have its' place.  It is OK for diesels which plod up and down motorways, sitting at 2,500 rpm.  However, LongLife is a definate no-no for any kind of high performance, high revving (read: over 3,000 rpm - which is now the official line) car.

Seriously, yes, I'm with you on this - 12 months or 10,000 miles maximum between scheduled services.  :smiley:
