What is everone's opinion on whether you would prefer to do an oil and filter change more frequently than that required by the Long Life service indicator? I know with my Audi (which is on long life servicing) I change the oil & filter every 7500 miles as do so many others.

It is when the service computer says you need it... but no later than 2years.  To find out when your next service is due, press and hold the 0:0 button on the right hand bottom corner of your dials and it will display the service due in XXX miles or xxx days... (make sure there are no warning messahes, e.g. fasten your seat belt as it wont work)

Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".
