would the gti bumpers and the honey comb grille etc fit a standard mark 5 golf as the insurance of a gti would be too high for my age? thanxs

Im 23, 3 years no claims, live nr Swindon and I only pay £668. You will find it aint too bad to insure GTI!

It will cost you more to have the grill put on and will lose your car value at trade in. The difference would be better spent buying and insuring a proper GTI! :nerd:

im 17 so it would be my first car, i saw an 07 gti for sale for £14,995 which is only £280 a month, and i get about £200 £250 week, but it would just be the insurance that killed so looks like i will have to wait a bit  lol

it does fit with a bit of fiddling around, but then you have to insure the standard golf as 'modified' otherwise if you have an accident and you don't tell the insurance company you have a whopping non standard bumper on the front, they will invalidate your policy and you will be liable for any damage you might have caused to other cars or people.
Buy a GTI, as a modified golf will be hard to sell too.  Or you could buy a GT TDI, cheaper to insure to and still loads of torque and power.

at 17 you've got 2 chances of a decent quote for insurance on a GTI

No hope and Bob Hope!!

Best bet is to get a cheaper car and rack up your NCBs

Wow... kids today.  My first car was a Citroen AX GT... nowadays they want brand new Golf GTi's.... god I feel old now.

As an aside, where the hell did you find an 07 GTi for £14,995???  Surely you mean an 05 GTi for that sort of price?

im 17 so it would be my first car, i saw an 07 gti for sale for £14,995 which is only £280 a month, and i get about £200 £250 week, but it would just be the insurance that killed so looks like i will have to wait a bit  lol
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

I think you can only get the gti in white so you'd have to respray the entire car aswell if you want a white one
