I was put off by a lack of PAS but 6months down the line and all is well! Apart from parking being a mini work out, at higher speeds it feels alot more "stable". And I can now carry at least double the amount of shopping bags

ive seen a e reg gti 16v looks nice has big bumpers fitted and nice cond, but no pas is it very heavy i expect its a nighmare at low speeds ands parking, an old mr2 i had one wasnt to bad but thats ligher

Only one way to know for certain, take it for a test drive.

It's all very well asking other people but it's down to personal preference in the end.

people who say MK2s are better without PAS generally havent driven one with PAS with the geometry set up right ;)

I converted mine to PAS and its only noticable when parking, when you're driving along it feels almost exactly the same :)

I've not driven one with PAS, but I can tell you its a shocker doing the old 3 point turn without PAS - jumping back in and driving it after being in the misses' mini you can really notice how heavy it is.
However, I don't really think about it anymore, but I do have a PAS setup in the garage waiting to be fitted

Of course when your moving its fine.
<br />Almost finished.....

yeah thats true i find when you have pas you can correct a skid a lot quicker instead of throwing a heavy wheel through your hands which feels like you are moving a piece of antique furniture.
i must buy a new car!
