Chrome lisence plate surround?
« on: 13 August 2007, 12:04 »
Yo!

not that i speed  but is it true that if you use the 'chrome lisence plate surrounds' then this would reflect the flash of a Gatso speed camera leaving it unable to read your rear plate or is this a myth?

I reakon that sounds like a myth to me. Not 100% sure tho!

I've also heard that smearing your girlfirends foundation (or coverup or whatever the hell they use) over the numberplate does a similar job of relecting the light from the flash. Not that I've ever tried it (my tomtom points out all the speed camears for me, even the mobile ones )

Sounds myth-tacular to me! - I've also heard that neons around the number plate can stop the lazer working - which I've since had confirmed as complete bo11ocks!

You can buy plates that reflect the flash though - illegal they are, but pretty easily available on-line, or there's a spray you can get on e-bay that you spray on your plates - they both work - I've seen the proof 1st hand when we did a little experiment. Only thing is you're easily caught 'cos if you're driving with the sun low behind you it reflects the light and blinds the poor bugger behind you - and if that poor bugger happens to be a John Q Law you're nicked sunshine!

"myth-tacular" lol.

when the films are read all sorts of tricks can be applied to the image to try and read your number plate correctly

anyway, you know how all camera's are in 'accident black spot' areas... what is being done to improve the dangerous nature of that particular bit of road with all the money raised from the cameras?

cheers for the replies .. thought it was a bit odd   also i think it's one of the escorts has a metal chrome surround as standard thats built into the boot so it cant make a difference.

nice pic aland ... when i was at high school there was a massive fuss in the news papers as the speed camera outside the school was shot with a shotgun lol

had a few speed cameras done my way.

first off you got to use at least two tyres and some petrol or any highly flammable liquid that takes your fancy.

of course i would never do any thing of this kind.

It may tell you they are there, but by the time you find that out it's too late anyway as you've already been zapped (hence why you know it's there), so if you were speeding you're nicked anyway.
......now officially dubless.

Nah, you can set it so it warns you in advance. So I get a warning 500yards or whatever I set before the camera comes up.

I always stick to the limit me  :nerd: so only use it as a backup (particularly useful for the mobile vans with cameras)
