hmm... enjoy the test drive Phil although I have to say that the Ed30 doesn't really feel very special when new - mine was underwhelming. After 6k miles it started to fly

Ok, car had 4500 on the clock, only 3 door, dsg in steel grey,So well run in. Have to say, was impressed with the cars mid range pull from 50+ mph on the motorway,it felt it didnt need toeing as hard as my current GTi.The car interia didnt feel as solid or as good a quality, but yes i liked the feel on the tartan seats, alot better in the flesh rather then judging via photo or gorping at it in a showroom, and though i hate to admit it, im toying with the idea of doing a swope, Dealer has offered me 18300 px  on my 05 DSG GTi for mine and is know hunting down a 5 door dsg ed 30 for me at a sensible price, (looking at 3500 to max of 4000 to top on to get in one thats a few months old rather then a brand spanker as i cant see the point in loosing several thousand in its 1st year. so watch this space!, even the wife tried it in comparison and couldnt get over the difference at motorway speeds, i will get one if its gonna cost under 4k so left it in the dealers court to find something or not bother calling as i wont be interested. But was overall impressed but not quite eating humble pie YET.. oh and the vw bottle opener in the ED30  acidently ended up in my pocket!, GOD KNOWS HOW  :smug:

Phil,
rather than rely on your dealer you could always have a look on used car search on www.vw.co.uk as they list stock at all dealerships nationally.    Probably be hard pressed to find 'bargain' ed30 yet tho'.
