Hi,
GTi's done 1800 miles and just had revo. Awesome transformation of the car but power tails off very rapidly after 5k rpm. You can really feel it when trying to max out in 3rd gear. I thought peak power was at around 6200 rpm so I don't quite understand it  Could it be the stock intake & exhaust struggling to keep up at those rpm.
Has anyone else had this or is this just normal?

Three things:
  • 1800 miles is very early to be getting the best out of your engine
  • Take the car back to whoever remapped it and explain
  • Speak to Revo - they're very helpful

I've heard nothing but good reports on Revo - and frankly you'd be wasting your money if you went for another company's remap at this stage?

Throttle response is much better and as far as I can tell no real turbo lag. The power between 2.3krpm and 4.5-5k rpm feels phenominal compared to stock.

Was just writing when your reply came up. I spoke to revo and at they said give it a week to adapt. Also we had a very hot weekend so the ecu may be throttling back. They said to take it back to the agent if I'm still not happy after a week as they can make some changes to the boost and timing.
I did a lot of research before choosing Revo and I will certainly take your advise in sticking with them, they do seem helpful.

Has your map improved or been resolved I'm looking to get the same map for my Leon FR (with the same engine as yours) but don't want the top end to suffer as a result?

It does seem a littlle better but to make sure I'll be going to Revo's office. They will do some data logging/test runs to find out if all is ok.

....I had my Revo Stage1 done by Jim at JKM Portsmouth - They're top people and Revo speak very highly of them too.

I find that since my remap I rarely rev much above 5,500 and can use the gears (DSG paddles) to achieve acceleration as needed. I do have other mods though which doubtless contribute. I've just covered about 3,000 miles of autobahns and alps while fully loaded with 2 passengers and luggage and have no complaints.

I'm looking forward to your posted comments, Phil

Went to the Revo UK today and took a drive with the guy and his laptop. After a little investigation he found the car had not been setup correctly from the Revo dealer. Boost, timing and fuel were all out. One setting was way of the mark and the ECU was heavily pulling back. After doing some data-logging and tinkering the car is much better. Now it doesn't feel gutless after 5k as it did before and is how it should be   . There is more power to be had as the values have been set reasonably conservatively.
As I have VAGCOM on the way I also bought a Select+ switch so I can change the settings above and more. With the pair I can do some data-logging :nerd: and try to squeeze more out of it.
