Gti 16v exhaust fit 8v???

Would a standard VW back box for a Mk3 Gti 16v fit onto a Gti 8v or is there an impossible amount of enginering to do this? They look the same in terms of pipe positions etc, is it just the diameter thats different? Would a stup up pipe sort this?
My mate knows someone that is getting rid of one and mine is on its way out, don't want to pay ?120 for it from main stealer though!

I think there the same, cos I wanted to know if a Scorpion zorst for a 16v would fit my 8v ... and from my "research" it appears they do.

I have a feeling there is a slight difference in bore size this is very slight and im pretty sure an adaptor is available

The Scorpion looks the dogs Bo!!ocks, and makes my 16v sound pretty good for a 4 cyl.
