which old golf
« on: 04 August 2007, 19:53 »
hi, i have decided to buy an old golf cabriolet as a runaround second car come winter project, i know very little about old golfs so far and would be gratefull if you could advise the pros and cons/ preferences of the various early models and maybe what to look for when buying one. my budget is up to about 2.5k. i have an engineering background and looking forward to owning and working on one, thanks for any help in advance.

Hello mate & welcome!!

Try posting your question in the mk1 section, you will probably get a better response (assuming you mean mk1 cabriolet).

I have never had a cabriolet myself so cant offer much advise, other than there are plenty of nice ones within your budget & remember older models qualify for classic insurance.

my g/f's brother had a late (L reg) mk1 sportline Cabriolet which was a stunning car but they are still pretty expensive,

Hi

I know nothing as well

Sprotlines are nice but will be stretching your budget.  Good luck with the hunt!
