Cheers,

She is running like a dream - done about 450 miles already.

A little bird told me somewhere that you should book it in for full oil change after about a thousand miles...something to do with metal deposits being in the oil from build?

Anyone any thoughts on this? Would it be as well to book an initial UK service at the same time to make sure everything is as it should be?

Any help on this would be most welcome.

Harry

i wouldnt worry about a 1000 mile change, thats what the oil filter was designed for.

Picked mine up today,

Very happy apart from one small thing no road tax, it hadnt come through but as I had booked tickets to collect the car they let me drive it away and they will forward the tax as soon as it arrives.

There were 4 more GTI's sitting there 2 blue a black and a white.

It had 5 miles on the clock and a whopping 10 miles left on the range.

I will post some pics tomorrow after I have given it the special treatment.

It must be an ancient, old skool little bird who told you that - unless yours came without an oil filter!

No "initial" service is required, but contact VWUK ASAP to get your car registered on their system, so that you can be notified of any official updates, register your warranty, and get your 12 months VW Assist.

Oh, and make sure it is NOT on LongLife servicing.

and get your 12 months VW Assist

This one caught me out.  VW have had a policy change with VW Assist on imports (see below).  It took me three months of driving around with limited cover, wondering where my VW Assist card was,  before I realised.  So I ended up paying £145 for two years VW Assist cover including Europe, full onward travel etc.  Fairly competitive and easily offset against the money I saved off the list price of course.....

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/company/faq#newcar
"Personal imports originating from Western Europe will generally be covered by a service called "Mobility Guarantee" from the country which supplied the car. Mobility Guarantee is limited in terms of the cover and duration it provides (12 months) and details can be found in the vehicle information wallet. Generally this service covers failure due to mechanical or electrical failure of the vehicle and does not provide help for such things as punctures, accident recovery, out of, or wrong fuel or lost keys. We therefore strongly recommend that you purchase our comprehensive Volkswagen assistance cover. For more information, please contact 0500 275 577."

2007 GTi, DSG, 18" Monza IIs, leather, tinted glass, parking, ipod prep, hill hold, cruise, highline and not forgetting - open grille fog light surrounds!

Hi all

Wondered if one of the blue ones was mine, but last contact with MP said it would not be delivered by VW until end Sept.  Car was ordered beginning of June.

Could hardly believe it this afternoon when MP contacted me to say car would be ready Saturday.

So after being GTi-less since May, will soon be back in fold -collecting car mid-week.

Anyone want a Mk 3 1.4 Astra !!!

Graeme
