been to awesome and done the following.

Eibach pro street coilovers ( rides better than oem)
Apr stage one upgrade ( need to learn how to get the power down properly!!)
milltek cat back exhaust ( slight cabin resonance at 2800 rpm under load, give it a week to bed in)

got to say, i'm initially very very happy...

power is progressive, if not a little boosty ( not bad just needs getting used too), but the big improvement is in the ride..sits more squat and gets rid of that arse in the air look of a standard gti...

think i will be needing new tyres sooner than i thought though!

if you fancy modding, i can recommend the above, with the exception of the exhaust maybe, but i will give that a weeks grace before i get under it and have a fettle..

summary? suspension and power upgrade make car that bit sportier and gives it the extra torque it needs...

exhaust? the jury is out on that at the minute,  its a bit barry bolt on, and maybe on borrowed time...will update in a week.

Interesting to sse what you think of the Eibachs. I'm deciding to go with the coilovers or whether to get the Koni Fsds with eibach springs. Will the coilovers rust over time making height adjustment impossible in future?
I've got Milltek too, non res, sounds much better over time. I found it abit drony when new, sounds nice now. Give it some time.

the ride on the eibach ( kw made) pro street really is top notch..at 500 quid a set i dont think they are expensive and given you can set the height to pretty much what you want, its an excellent bit of kit...

more power is a toy really, as it spins up mostly at low revs, but at motorway speeds it gives excellent torque for overtaking and manouvering....havent driven a ed30 to compare, but they must be simolar in power, but dont know about delivery..

and the exhaust will get a week or 2..have driven it 150 miles and it may be getting better already..am goig to a get together in milton keynes this weekend, so 400 mile round trip should give me a better idea...

worthy of noting cruise is an excellent aftermarket if you dont have it already...sert it to 85 and it does 34mpg all day long...overall average 30 included a very spirited run yesterday to try and bed everything in properly...

its pretty much finished with regard to mods, and am well happy with the final result....having gone full circle in a host of other cars, am well glad i am back in a dub.

The Milltek may take well over 1,000 miles to mature but it's worth the wait.

I would add Anti-roll bars to complete the suspension package. Give Andy, Dean, and Sarah my best wishes at Awesome - They supplied my suspension parts.

Think i'm going to get some eibach coilovers. Called up awesome, a guy then recommended that over the fsd's i was initially going to get. Agree remap seems to abit too much round town etc, but motorway driving is great. Finding the brakes are lacking tho. Dunno if i shud get some Brembos or R32 ones.

....I don't think the R32 ones fit the Mk5 - Illogical but true (I think!). Brembo own AP Racing whose big brake kit I've got - Totally awesome, non-fade, and instant pedal response without snatching - But surely not worth it just for around town. Perfectly compliments a remap and good enough for track days.

I'm off tomorrow to storm down the autobahns for a week or two or three, so don't take offence if I don't post any responses here for a bit. I'll leave you with these pics:

They fit both Monza 17's and 18's and there's no point having them on the rear axle.

Couldn't resist myself, have just ordered some Eibach ARBs, Dampers and Springs. Can't wait to see what they are like fitted.
