ABS on a Mk1?

A friend of a friend is stripping his Mk1 convertible, I'll be undoing the topmounts, ball joint, tie rod & driveshaft (g/box end) and whipping the whole lot away - Koni Coil overs/late driveshafts & corrado brakes 

Apparently this convertible has got ABS    me want    what else would I need to take off the car, and how hard is it going to be to set up?

Oh yeah, I'm getting the whole lot (&wings/bonnet) for £150     I know "Lucky Ba&tard" 


P.s. there's a 2.0 16v ABF lump sititng in there waiting to go into someones Mk1 - £250

ABS on a mk1 cab... mmmm this must be a custom conversion, I've not heard of this being standard unless its a LHD european cab or USA spec?

The guy's cousin has a breakers yard so he's had his pick of the parts bin, unfortunately he doesn't know much about the car himself

so I would say, look at hte parts set-up on the car already and get part numbers and then start researching to find out where they have come from and then you can start to figure out what you will need.

you'll need all the front hub stuff obviosly, and I'd take the entire rear beam as well.  Then find the ABS pump, and follow the wiring from it, steal everything thats attached to it.  TRhere should be an abs light in the dash somewhere, so make sure you grab that along with any wires that go with it.  Personally i think you're crazy to want to bother fitting abs to a MK1

I'm not so sure its even got ABS now  its really awkward when the guy with the car doesn't know a thing about it 

Spoke to him lastnight and the rear brakes are definately Audi, other than that the whole set up is a mystery?

I did originally want the whole hub set up etc anyway, my instructions to him were simply:- undo top mounts, undo driveshafts from gearbox, undo ball-joint & tie rod - hand it all over   

I wonder if he just couldn't be bothered as he's only removed the shocks, I'm going over on Saturday to get the rest off myself, either way I've got my Koni-coilovers coming 

I don't really want ABS, but I do want bigger brakes and if they're sitting there doing nothing it would be rude not to take them, especially for the silly money he wants     (a mate also reckons ABS can be reveresed to become launch control don't know if there's any truth in that but if so.... )

well you can still use the big brakes, just dont hook up the abs system

I was told I wouldn't be able to ditch the ABS I need to stop listening to my mates (the one's who know nothing at least )

all the abs does is control brake pressure down the hydralic lines in each corner, just thread your std brake hoses in there and use a bog std master cylinder and no more abs
Just need to bin the sensors if they are on the hubs.  Only thing to check is that your old hoses will fit the calipers, they should do unless they're off a random other car.

Its got goodridge hoses on it so I'll be having them 

I'm pretty sure the master cylinder was mk2 16v  it definately didn't have anything extra on it that I didn't recognise? does that mean its probably not ABS afterall
