I'd just turned 21 when i bought my mk3 16v, got insured fully comp with Elephant for ?743, and had just lost 2 years ncb.  Only down side is the ?300 excess!  But i do get courtesy cars, breakdown cover etc. and they handled my claim that lost my ncb very well.

I assumed that after i crashed my last car and lost the ncb i would have to get something a bit more sensible so i got a quote for a 1.6mk3 and was shocked to be quoted ?430, so i went up the models getting more and more excited till i got to the GTi 16v, had to stop short of a VR6 cos i couldn't afford one but the quote on that was ?1100, which is not too bad.  Maybe next year............

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.

Blue - never heard of sportex, and id rather have a new exhaust.

When ya turn 21 ya insurance drops, and it drops again @ 25.

Oh and Elephant was 85p cheaper than Admiral.

I'm 23 with no ncb after just having had an accident at the beginning of the year, I pay ?750 on a MK3 16v fully comp with elephant, but it only cost me ?40 as I'd only recently taken a policy with them before my accident so they deducted the remainder of my previous policy from the new one.

I rate elephant very highly as they dealt with my claim very quickly and efficiently. Oh and I've always found elephant to be cheaper than Admiral.
