Service indicator reset
« on: 31 July 2007, 20:56 »
Had the car serviced by the supplying dealer last week(Mazda dealer) for free. They advised that they had reset the service indicator.

Anyway it doesn't come on but when putting the ignition key in, press the 0.0 button and turn on ignition then releasing button as the manual I get the message 'service now!'

Been in the VW dealers today for replacement drivers leather seat cover and asked them to reset it which they said they shouldn't do but would. Anyway they forgot but sent a technician out, with laptop and half an hour and 2 technicians scratching their heads later they couldn't reset. Car is now booked in on the 10th just to have the service indicator reset.

Anyone else had this..???

p.s. car feels much more lively after the service...or could be the change from the Mazda 2 1.4d loan car which has made it feel slightly more pokey

Did you get a VW stamp in your service book or a Mazda one?

Mazda

Still the VW delaer is looking at the service light and auto light issue. Only keep cars a year anyway due to mileage so no issue to me.

Hi,

This is not a problem as the display should say the "service now" message and will remain in the display when you press 0.0 until a specified service miles remaining mileage is reached (I think its 5000 before service is due but dont hold me to it!)  - I have 3 golfs outside my house, an 07 GTI 3300 miles, 07 GT 1500 mile and a 56 R32 7300 miles and they all say service now when you turn the ign on with the 0.0 button pressed down.

Hope this helps - (I'll take photo's for proof if you like!)

my 56 plate GTI, sept 06, just ticked over 5000miles, no service indicator yet, but I will have a basic service at 1 year old.  :nerd:

This is not a problem as the display should say the "service now" message and will remain in the display when you press 0.0 until a specified service miles remaining mileage is reached (I think its 5000 before service is due but dont hold me to it!)  - I have 3 golfs outside my house, an 07 GTI 3300 miles, 07 GT 1500 mile and a 56 R32 7300 miles and they all say service now when you turn the ign on with the 0.0 button pressed down.

I think they have been coded incorrectly then.

If you press and HOLD the 0.0 button for about four seconds (with the ignition on, but the engine off), it should say something like service due in X,XXX miles, or XXX days.  If you have just had it serviced, and the VW dealer reset the service interval display correctly, it can take upto 1month or 500 miles to re-calibrate, so you end up with a series of dashes.
