2 - both should be blue; sounds like the passenger has been replaced at some time; they are blue to reduce dazzling from headlights at night

mine are both white, i'm sure the one color is the euro and one is British but not sure, what you might want to check is that both of them are heated, becuase if one has been changed the heating element may not have been connected properly.

it could do, is it the hole the pipe goes into thats chipped or the hose?

hows the car otherwise?  you enjoying it?

Its the section that holds the hose in place, i will try and get some pics of it posted.

Other than that the cars been awsome, drives well and the car feels so solid unlike some other makes i test drove.

Not to keen the sound it makes when its rev'd however AC means i can keep the windows up and don't notice it as much.
I'm sure ill get used to it though too many years with petrol engines must do that to you. Anyway the Mpg more than makes up for it i can't even remember the last time i was in a petrol station.

2 - both should be blue; sounds like the passenger has been replaced at some time; they are blue to reduce dazzling from headlights at night

4 - the rear end is the achilles heal of any MKIV golf; best bet is to get the rear suspension bushes changed; most garages will charge around £150 for this including parts.

Any ideas where i can get a replacement blue mirror? + How can a check if its heated (wrong time of year to find out through normal use)

How can i check if the bushes need replacing?

Also the centre armrest doesn't seem to have catch on it, so when its lifted the lid just falls back emptying the contents all over the rear footwells.
I presume this isn't standard and is busted, just don't wont to get a replacement to discover this is the norm.

Sooooo many questions
Thanks for all your help....  I think I maybe transforming to a VW enthusiast

Cheers All

you should be able to feel the heat on the glass by touching the back of your hand against the glass, can take a minute to warm up, is activated but the rear window element.

the arm rest lid should catch, you should be able to get a new lid from VW but not sure how much there will rip you off.  there is also a one way ratchet to keep the arm up once its up.

I know I blabber on about knocking the desiels, its just the sound I cant get past. Iv kind of gone past the point of no return, so must insit on knocking it still.

I cant remeber the thread now, but I was tempted by the 150 GT TDI. Please answear honestly, I am getting my 1.8T in April, seriously, how close performance wise is the 150 GT TDI compared to the 1.8T ? The kind of MPG figures your guys are quoteing is really tempting me.

This is your chance . . .

on paper the petrol vs diesel are pretty much the same there is .1 sec in the 0-60 times, i don't know what this is like in RL as i've never gone up against one, if someone has an unmodified one could always give it a try.  obviously the 1.8T 180 is a different story.

mpg wise i use mine to get to work every day, 34 miles each way, i can easily get 500+ miles before the light comes on.

the 150 is going to have the same spec as the 1.8T standard, and you'll quite often find them with better specs than the petrols becuase of the people that were buying them new.  only downside is the minor service is ever 10K (oil and check brakes (not exactly going to break the bank though))

if you're doing more than 12K a yeah get the TDI, i'll let Rhyso have his say now
