Are you sure it has power steering?  My '89 valver doesn't  :smiley:

It dosent have power steering but I didnt think the difference would be so great.I just about remember driving a car without power steering when I was a nipper.It was my fathers polo and the steering was hard enough but I thought the golf would be much better.I suppose I will just get use to it.

The steering is bloody heavy without power when you are parking but i do think you get a much better feel for the road whilst driving. It's a drivers car and these days non power steering is one of those quirks that you just dont get the pleasure of any more.
Enjoy it and become one with the road!! Also make sure you keep that tyre pressure up, it akes all the difference.
