mk2 running rich????? please help

hi,
i've had my mk 2 gti 8v for about 2 weeks now and got a few questions about it:

Its got a gas flowed head and fast road cams plus a full stainless system on from when i picked it up.
The question i've got is the MFA is giving a read out anywhere from 10 -20 mpg.  its also feels alittle lumpy but seems to runand pull fine.

Q: do you think this is normal?

Also from standing behind the car when its running it smells like its running very rich!

Q: will these changes to the head etc make it run very rich or would you recommend getting it checked and set up again?

finally: does anybody recommend any vw specialists around nottingham area for scrap parts and garages.

I would get the set up checked if I were you, and make sure the ECU has not been chipped. Obviously with any kinds of engine mods, there will be a difference, but you should still be able to tune the engine to within specified, or legal limits.
If you go to Rubjonnies digifant set up page, there is all the info you need to do a good job. The Haynes manual is also very comprehensive.
