Seen a canny few GTI's today...was it you?
« on: 23 July 2007, 17:05 »
Its not normal for me to see more than 2 or 3 GTI's on the road within a short space of time. But today whilst i was out doing my site surveys up at the A1079 Hull Road, York, i seen a canny few.
I seen:

- Black 3dr (07 Plate)
- Black 5dr (55 Plate)
- Black 5dr (parked up close to York centre)
- Darky sort of blue 5dr (turning onto A64)
- Silver 5dr

Was it anyone from here????

“Canny” is a colloquialism particular to the North East of England and can be used as an adjective (rather than an adverb).  For example, in this context it can be read “I saw a fair/good few…”.  Its use in this context is nearly always superfluous.

I lived in Newcastle for 2 years, so became familiar with some of the more unusual vocabulary used by the locals.   :lipsrsealed:
