DSG= YES!!! (Better resale value and extra power and flappy paddles )

Leather is good but heard about some issues with poor quality though...

Go for black if you have lots of free time to clean the car everyday, go for red if you want the more traditional look.

same here, have both, if gun was at my head the leather could be sacrificed, DSG stays, would be lost without it. dont hesitate, just order it soon as!

leather makes the car look elegant and smooth but the gti is an untamed animal. Stick with the cloth - looks more sportier

Gotta go with the majority, DSG rules.

Besides, the cloth on the GTI mk5 is retro mk1 cool.

I have leather... I would change it for DSG without a second thought.

Make sure you get Xenon's!
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

Had both and currently have DSG
I wouldn't have leather again in the golf. Too slippy and sweaty in summer, too cold and clammy in winter....even with the heated seat function.

DSG is a must.......repeat after me.....leather bad.....DSG good

I wouldn't go so far as to say leather is bad.  IMHO, a car costing near enough £20k should have leather (or half leather/alcantara) as standard.  The cloth GTi seats are OK, but nowt special - the material is a little on the harsh side... feels cheep... the leather does lift the interior somewhat.  Best compromise as far as I am concerned is the Edition 30 interior... simply superb.
