16v manifolds continued

Hey everyone! The Ashley manifold I bought was a complete joke – what a complete waste of time those useless funking bar stewards really are! Anyways after that little drama I’m now shopping for another manifold and found these sexual looking pieces of shiny pipe, has anyone used or herd anything about them? Must say looks much better than the ones offered to us by TSR, Magnex, Ashley or the like, what do you think?

i'd look out for a raceland manifold. some of their stuff aint great but i've heard alot of good stuff about the manifolds. i've fitted one to a vr6 and it fitted great and has had no problems so far.

Raceland hey I’ll check them out but I think I’m sold on this one from “Hottuning” as they seem to be the only one that does a 4 – 2 – 1 configuration which will give me that nice bottom end pull. Actually is there a reason why the others don’t?

It just doesn't fit, it fouls on the steering rack to the point where it supports the weight of the engine if you were to try and tighten it up, on the exhaust tunnel in the top right hand corner if you were to look up at it from underneath and the whole thing is angled funny so that if those other two problems went an issue then you wouldn’t be able to connect it to the rest of the exhaust system anyway. Sent it back for checking and they told me it was fine so I took it to a WV specialist and they had exactly the same issue. Could you get some kind of compensation from them as I’ve spent the better half of this month removing and reinstall manifolds + the expense of having a specialist check it just to be no better off?  Not a happy bunny!

I'd be careful with the raceland ones as everyone I've known to buy one for a 16v has also fouled on the steering rack. I believe they are all made for LHD cars.

Cheers for the heads up man! I’m pretty interested in the 4 - 2 - 1 manifold though do you think it would fit in the tunnel, looks kind of wide with the second section where it goes from 4 to 2?

I've got a magnex one on mine and it's tight but fits well . . . just my 2 pennies worth 

Also bare in mind a 4 -1 and a 4 -2 -1 will perform differently . . .  the 4 -2 - 1 give more midrange and less top end improve; the 4 -1 the most gain is at the top end.

as far as im aware a decent port matched cast iron manifold will perform just aswell as any stainless steel item, only main difference is the weight

That's exactly what vince at stealth racing told me, more often a stainless item is more hassle than it's worth.
