buy a set of 5mm spacers then you have an et of 35 which is ideal for your motor (iirc!)

With that kind of offset you'd be looking at rubbing up against the shock absorber and spring, so it wouldn't matter if the car was lowered or not! However, i'm not saying that you would get rubbing with that offset, but it is getting a bit high

you only need to start worring about rubbage when you get to ET25 at the front, and close to ET18 at the rear :)

Lowered or std?

Mine is 20mm lower on eibachs and rubs occasionally with ET28 on the back.

Mine was lowerd 40mm with the above ETs, ET25 was fine on mine at the rear, with 195/50/15.  What tires have you got, baloons?

Edit: 40mm kit, so in reality 20mm on a GTI.  Width is also important, mine are/were 7j :)
Edit2: 195 wide, 15 is a bit narrow

They were all cheapies.

I have uniroyals on now, so will have to see, it is only with weight in the back and over fast bumpy/sweeping roads.

Day to day it is no probs
