« on: 21 July 2007, 20:47 »
i have a hole on my dashboard where the previous alarm LED was, a seperate one to the alarm /imob thats on now for some reason they didnt use the same hole, so...iv picked up a super bright LED to fit in the hole and basically i need to know how/which wires to join the new LED to, i want it to flash only when the ignition is turned OFF, anyone any ideas, i cant get hold of my auto electrician and its doing my head in now

also i dont want to join it to the other alarm at all so that idea is a no no

i've done exactly this with mine...

i used a standard relay from maplins.. connected to it a constant live (from the cigarette lighter), a switched live (from the radio) and an earth so that when the switched live comes on (turning the key) this throws the relay and disconnects the supply to the LED.

be careful though, I blew my ignition switch by connecting up the wrong thing - I never want to have to change one of those again!!
