Detailing Services
« on: 20 July 2007, 10:32 »
Hi all, like many I really don't have the time to spend on thorough detailing of my car and as such have been looking at getting the professionals to do it... just wondered whether people felt £220 for my Golf was a fair price for this treatment: http://www.cliftoncarcare.com/swissvaxexterior.html which is available from a local car care place near me...

I understand that this only needs to be done on a yearly or half yearly basis, topped up with regular simple washes to keep surface contaminants to a minimum.

TBH, doing it myself is unlikely, I value my free time too much and TBH just wouldn't have the patience to do it so thoroughly myself
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

get over to www.detailingworld.co.uk and ask for services over there; you'll probably find someone local to you who will do all that PLUS machine polishing for less money.  that's what I've done;

click the link in below my sign and go to page 6 to see what was done; think you'll be impressed by the results

WOW... he has done an amazing job... I can get over to Newport easy... so he is a possibility... out of curiosity how much did that cost?

given the level of correction needed to my paintwork he charged me £120 and spent at least 10 hours working on the car! he washed, clayed, wet sanded, machine polished and then waxed. Results speak for themselves

He's over on detailing world under user name W3LSH; might be best if you drop him an email as he can then give you a breakdown of exactly what was involved and you can tell him what you want doing so he can give you an accurate price

Great price, I have just joined the newport site you linked to, but if he prefers to do business via detailing world I think i will head over there and enlist his services.

My car should be relatively simple... suffers from swirling a bit and a few very very minor scratches and some tar and bug spots... basically I just want it clayed, swirls sorted and then polished and waxed to a nice wet shine   Then just want the trim treated...

be interesting to see what it costs!

Just realised Northerner that you are in Bath, only live 10 miles away in Melksham myself.  Have always fancied getting a car of mine detailed so would be interested to see how you get on mate.

Have checked out WELSHs work and its excellent

Cheers Paul

I'll let you know how I get on, as soon as my account is activated on Detailing World I will be looking to see if there is anyone in the Bath-Bristol area who does detailing... bit more convenient than Newport... but then again, the Newport chap looks pretty damned impressive!

i think there are a few around your way but not sure if they are pro detailers or people who will gladly do it for a few beer tokens.

Welsh is the latter but does a pro job and i really cannot fault his work.  I left it with him one evening and he worked on it then and all the following day.  He was in constant contact as to what to do with regards the scratching as some were too deep to remove so we decided for him to imrpove them as much as possible without compromising the integrity of the paint.

For the money he'll charge you it will be worth the trip; just don't forget your passport

Rhyso - thanks for that.  Until 4 months ago I lived in Llanvaches near Caldicot, so my Welsh passport is still OK I reckon
