mk4 gti turbo

Does anyone know how much performance a 57i K&N adds to a mk4 gti turbo??
and does it greatly affect the fuel consumption??

My friend had one fitted and apart from a little induction noise (heard only from outside) it did little to either. He eventually went back tp standard fit.

I have a pipercross on my mk3, they do sound better and they are ment to give an extra 7 1/2 bhp.  I have not noticed a power increase, but I think it might give you an edge.  I will let you know if I race against the same car with out one.

Don't put an induction kit on your 20vT. It will mess up the air mass meter which in turn will throw up fault codes on the ECU. If all you want to do is increase turbo performance then upgrade your exhaust and get the "Hyperboost" diverter valve (dump valve) fitted. It seems to be a well known fact that the plastic factory fitted valve is crap, fails very quickly, and doesn't unleash the potential of the turbo charger. Keeping the standard air box, change the paper filter to a K&N performance panel filter - this also helps. Trust me, I did this early on.

Is this 'dump valve' easy to fit or is it a tricky job. Any advice on where to buy one?

Hey Guys!

Stop messing around with "traditional" physical fixes to boost the performance of your MK4 Turbo's....they are to obvious and your insurance company will easily find them if you ever claim.

Settle for REVO "flash programming" of the existing VW ECU chip thru the diagnostic port. 15 minutes and ?499 plus VAT. Either 206 or 212 bhp depending upon 2000 or 2001 car spec. Has turned my Turbo into  a beast but looks like standard GTi until you try and keep up with me!

Website for REVO dealers availiable if needed - OK.

I would say this too - I however went to R - Tech for my Software, cost my £200 and my car... According to them is whacking out 210BHP and 235 Torque. Plus my turbo sounds simply awesome! and it's loud enough for people to notice, but no Dump Valve is present
