Airbag replacement.........

  have just bought a mk3 gti with minor front damage and what i need to know is the following:-
 
  1) is the trigger for the airbag in the steering wheel or elsewhere on the car and if so where?

  2) will i need to change the trigger or is it part of the bag itself?

  3) to remove it do i just have to cut all power and can i do it straight away or do i have to leave it with the power disconnected for a period of time before removal?

Hi mate,

1) I know there are airbag sensors on either side of the front seats right next to the doors. Not sure where any others are, if any.

2) depends if the trigger is damaged - they work on being smashed into!

3) to remove the airbag, there's a power connector underneath the steering column - best to disconnect battery first I think but no need to wait
