Fuel filler neck

Just decided to shoe horn the Campaign back out the garage after 3 years of resting it, and have noticed the rust in the filler neck, so before anything happens this will have to be changed. Has anyone done one? Is it a quick job?? Are all the parts available? Who supplies the cheapest SS filler neck??

Welcome to the forum, and good idea to get the old girl back out again.
If you take a look under the wheel arch you will see the fuel filler neck coming down, jubilee clipped on. Should be quite obvious how it is changed when you see it there.
I think eurocarparts do the parts, or check the main page for a few links to some mk1 parts dealers

The stainless steel filler necks used to be manufactured by Autocavan. I don't think you can buy them new anymore but might be worth keeping your eye on ebay. If you do find somewhere that still manufactures them, can you let us know.

i too have the problem of the filler neck rusting away. i phoned up euro car parts a couple of months ago and was quoted roughly ?30 and that was including the hose that conects the filler neck to the tank. hope this helps

This filler neck is turning into a real saga.
I cannot drill out the old self tapping screws without blunting the drill bits.
Any ideas on what drill bit to use and what size for the best result??

You will have trouble drilling out the screws as they are hardend steel. Is there any way you can get a pair of vice grips on to the heads of the screws?. Some times you can get on the back of the screws with grips and screw them out them enough to then get on the head.
