Mk 1 buying tips

Hello there, as you can prob tell by my username i used to have a 1.8T mk4. Currently i have a civic type r but am looking at buying a mk1 gti. Ive looked on the for sale section and there doesnt seem to be much about! Where else is a good place to look? Im looking for one thats nice and tidy and want to spend around the 3k mark. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have a look in the mk1 maintenance section on this site as there's a few in there about buying cabs but with other website links in them. You also want to register on this website as it's solely mk1s http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/ They don't allow anything but mk1 stuff to be sold in the classifieds.
