new doors
« on: 14 July 2007, 18:54 »
anyone know where I can get some brand new doors for my mk1 gti? I don't even know if they exist but don't want to take my chances with second hand ones. I also need both front wings

cheers,

Gem

gem, pattern parts are cheap, but never fit that great. orig parts are very expensive.

have you tried to to get hold of parts from a breakers, or someone breaking a mk1?  you could try www.golfmk1.co.uk for spares :) he's been a great help to me!

I don't really mind paying more money to get mint ones. Don't trust second hand but not sure if you can get new ones anyway

The Golf Citi from South Africa only comes in a 5door, so it wouldn't be any help for a Mk1 GTI.
I think also the wings might be different because it has a different shape grill and bumper.

Have you tried VW themselves? Try gpcvwaudi.com for VW parts... I know I got my front wings and front panel from them, but they are VW dealer prices as well....

Gem, unless there's little difference price wise between brand new and 2nd hand, I think I'd just get some good solid 2nd hand ones as you'll probably need to get them painted anyway. What's the point in having brand new doors next to 25 year old panels.
