afternoon troops!

 i'm having a bit of a head scratch with my new car. The previous owner has fitted supsersport coilovers (stiff aint the worrd!) but i noticed whilst sorting a sticking rear caliper that the drivers side is about 20mm higher than the the other side. Ive heard that this could be to compensate for a worn rear axle bush? Does anone have any more info on the subject?   Ta

sounds dodgy! are the bushes knackered? does the car sit lopsided? if it was me i'd get the bushes checked and replaced if needed and level out that suspension!

touche!!! cheeky sod!    Ive only had the car a few weeks so still getting to know it. Not sure about the bushes, is it just a case of having a look or is there another way to check em???

Sounds daft, but have you checked if they are top adjustable? Might just be set out one side due to last person having a preference to corner harder to the left!!

What about the bump stops, are they the same, what if the shocks have gone one side? 
Hope you get it sorted, don't be shy to get the spanners on it, to check the shocks and top mounts you only need 19mm, 22mm and a 8mm allen key, if coilovers are the same as normal shocks!

well i found that all of the shocks were miss matched, on the front one side was 35mm lower than the other!!!!!!!!!   Got em all the same and test drove fine, till the o/s rear brake started smoking like a barbie, gutted!!! Took the calipers off yest to give em the once over and now this...... joy. With the car jacked up the wheel turns but only just. Slackend off the hand brake cable but made no difference and tbh its sat eve and ive got the weekend off so it's now beer o clock now       Any input would as always be most appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like the pads have been changed but the piston in the caliper has not been wound back in, you'll have to take the caliper off and screw the piston back in (anticlockwise) atleast a turn then refit and check. You don't want it too loose or you will not take the slack up on the cables. Slop a bit of grease on the piston whilst you can and some on the guides of the pads to ensure they all move freely. mk2 rear calipers are notorious for binding. most people either fit late mk3 or mk4 calipers, but the mk4's need an adaptor hose.
