clock issues
« on: 07 July 2007, 00:57 »
my 8v gti clocks packed up a few days ago. speedo doesnt work.mfa, yes, revs, yes, just no speedo.
checked all connections and all seems fine.

anyway, after all iv spent on her, i just want things right. iv got a local breakers but they cant promise the clocks will work.  but i have a friend who is scrapping his old 8v. i know everything on it works clock wise, but its done a good 10'000 miles more  than mine.  is there anything i can do. it really isnt anything dodgy, just for ref the reg is j25wwg!
its just the clocks are free, and for insurance reasons dont want to put mor miles on my policy!

Just the speedo? Have you checked the speedo cable hasn't snapped and made sure the drive in the gear box hasn't fallen off?

They can just snap in the middle, underneath the sheath. Only way to check is to remove it from the gearbox, and give it a yank.

99% that it will be the cable that's snapped and nothing wrong with the clocks.
