Aerial Coax lead
« on: 06 July 2007, 17:08 »
Does any know if the lead from the base of the bee sting aerial (that goes to the HU) is hard wired or is it removable, i.e. plug in jobby??

Think my amp in the base of the beesting is fecked (sh|tty FM reception), but do without having to have to run the coax all the way to the front of the car....

Anyone else had to replace a fecked bee sting???
Headlining down a bit, then I assume its just the one bolt holding it on?

cheers

there is a join in the coax at the headlining near to the base of the anntena. Just remove the plastic trim and you can get your hand in.

yep, its plugged at both ends, so you can just change the base of the aerial on the roof.

held on by 1 nut...

trust me, you dont wanna replace the whole cable, its a right pig of a job, especially gettin it down the inside of the A pillar!

the hole in the roof of the mk2 is square, the one on ebay is round...

if you can, i would try to get a genuine one, as the aftermarket ones may not fit the VW plug, which may mean you having to change the whole lot!
