Settings menu on Highline 2008 build.
« on: 30 June 2007, 00:52 »
Wondering if there are any new owners who have just taken delivery of their car maybe in the past week or two. I got mine on Tuesday 26th and it was the 2008 build, confirmed by newer rcd300 HU and different stalks. Anyway i specified my car with highline computer but without the multi function wheel. I'm aware th highline computer should allow me to adjust settings like coming home lighting, auto door locking etc. All accessed via the trip button on the right hand stalk.
I tried this method on my car and i can't get the menu to appear, dealer tried to recode it still not work. There was an edition 30 (like mine) at the dealer, that worked but it had the multi function wheel. I then had a read of the manual and it says these advanced settings only apply to cars with highline and MF wheel.
Has anyone else got a car with the highline but no MF wheel and also a 2008 build managed to get this working? Thanks for any input

Kev... you should have 2 buttons on the tip of your wiper stalk which go up and down.  These will let you cycle through MPG, Trip, Average MPG, Miles left in tank etc.  If you hold down the up one (probably works with down one too?) for about 5 seconds it should access the highline menus.  You can then use up and down to go up and down through the menus, and use the button in the top middle of the wiper stalk to confirm your actions.
You must do this when not moving though - with the key turned on!

Works with my Ed30 which must've been the week before the 2008 models were released
I dont have a MFSW either

Thanks for the reply guys. Dealer tried to sort this out for me and test other cars on site with highline and 2008 build. Unfortunately these all had the MFSW. They will call VW techinical support on Monday for me as they are as puzzled as i am. Just hope that with these 2008 build cars you don't have to have MFSW to access these functions. My friend got his GTI 2wks before me and his work fine, but again his is a 2007 build.

I had a similar problem, menus such as the "leaving home" were not there. Dealer sorted it, I assume they just plugged it into diagnostics and enabled them... all works ok now. I don't have the multi-function wheel either.

Joe what build is urs. Is it the 2008 model? My dealer could not find an enable function via Vagcom. Hope i get it sorted, not overly fussed about it, just that you pay for something and you expect to have it lol. Not sure how often i'd change the functions anyway.
SteveS, as far as i know, the only difference i know over mine and my friends GTI 2007 are 2008 has mp3 rcd300 headunit, fancier looking stalks. Some cost cutting in the engine bay which i found out when i changed out the OEM shifter for a Forge shifter.
