Hi Aled,

That sounds excellent - will get your details from Vince tomorrow and give you a buzz (or feel free to drop me an email via my profile info on the forum). Would really like to have a look at your edition 30, and see what bluefin has done for your car.

I live on the outskirts of aberystwyth town centre, so can visit you easily from here - did you buy your car locally or from a VW dealer elsewhere? Looks like we are forming an unofficial west-wales GTi club over here (there must be more than 2 of us around!).

I am really really tempted to get the bluefin now, need to see the proof of the pudding.

Cheers,

Rob

how much does it cost to get the car Bluefined?
warranty invalid after it has been bluefined?
i suppose insurance would go up aswell......

Hi Maxamus,
Bluefin is expensive, around £600,but shop around you should find a 10% discount speak directly with superchips they should help you,my car has been Blufined for approx two weeks, results are excellent, read other comments before you make your mind up but personally i can recommend it,and the car now feels smother and more driveable lag is non existent, fuel consumption slightly better.
All i can tell you about your warranty perhaps speak to your dedicated technician at VW he will be the one that will gain access to your ECU in any future warranty work, see what he says if you know him well enough, even though Bluefin is reversable to standard setting it still can be detected if they need to read you ECU.
I know my technician, hes aware of my Bluefin and we are both happy with that
I covered my insurance some time ago on the site,my bluefin is down on my policy as there is no mechanical changes or cosmetic changes my insurance accepted it,the only cost is admin fee,but im lucky Bluefin is still very new so many insurance companies have not queeried to much about it as yet.
my advise is make sure you get it in writing :nerd:
If you know your Vw garage well they may even fit Bluefin for you,for a fee but its peace of mind but get all the information first before you decide.
i hope this is of some use

Just bluefinned my car, too early tbh since my engine is still so new, but couldn't help it. Throttle response is much more sensitive, need to shift up to 5th/6th in fourty's to prevent creeping past the speed limit too much. Took it for a blast down the A1, no full throttle since car is too new, but OMG, even on half throttle, 3rd gear pull from 50ish up to about 80 happens in blink of the eye. Can't wait till i get some more miles on the engine so i can really open her up abit. May have to invest in a Forge DV soon, as a precaution.

Hi Aled,

Are you around at home this weekend at all? I didn't get a chance to phone Vince this week and get your details - can you drop me an email (via my profile info) and I'll contact you to arrange to see your edition 30?

Cheers,

Rob

Despite the favourable reviews of Bluefin here, I wouldn't touch them after reading about Superchips previous products and what Teutonic said about them - by the way where is that guy? Hope he's ok...  I'll be going with Revo after running my Ed30 in for a year - or maybe 6 months, or maybe 3 months
