Think maybe ill hold off for a UK seller. Think max I would pay is 1k.  :undecided: Would love to have it though!!! Been tempted by one the the Kenwood Double Dins but I prefer the original factory fit look and the kenwood is likely to attract more chance of someone breaking my window!

If there is no antenna for these ones on ebay where would I get one as I dont have sat nav at the moment? MFD one from ebay might fit ok?

Agree the price is a bit steep. On closer inspection the facia immediately surrounding the display is high gloss finish - doesn't really go with the matt/rubberised GTI dash unless you want to go down the carbon trim route

Guess I'll stick with the standard factory fit for now - nowt really wrong with it but I like the touch screen function and would love to have a 3D map display.

Standard antenna for factory SatNav is the sharks fin. If non on eBay, try a specialist VW parts supplier.

If anyone wants a really cheap sat nav solution, I've just got A Nokia n95 as my upgrade phone from o2 for £30. Includes built in gps antenna and uk maps, £5 for a months license up to £47 for 3 years to use the voice commands, add a car cradle for £50 et voila, sat nav for £95!!

Looks fairly smart too, better than a tom tom stuck to your windscreen!

I used the sat nav on my N95 this week to navigate round some of the floods in South Yorkshire. I have been really pleased with it, some of the route planning is a little strange ( If you know a short cut). Mind you the the RNS- 510 does look good. Wouldn't pay nearly a grand for one though.

Some of the route planning on the n95 is a bit nuts, from m11 to ruislip, north west london it took me direct rather than via the m25, however to get to paddington station it was superb. It pays to have a rough idea where your going and leave it to do the tricky bits at the end lol!

Alternatively you can apparently add tom tom software to the phone, possibly slightly better than the in built nokia version.

Some info and (brief) video links here:

Unit is shown in Mk V GTI and doesn't look bad. Still expensive at the moment though
