mk2`s are great fun but if im honest theyre just not fast and the interiors in them are seriously outdated, suppose it depends what you want from the car. im about to uprgrade to a mk3 so time will tell what i think about them :)

You are prbably better off with a mk3 as it will hopefully be more reliable for you and cost you less money to maintain. I drive a mk2 16v so i think that is the best but it is a constent money pit to maintain it as there is always something else you want to do to it to make it better.
It really depends on the finances, as a daily driver and being a young driver you will be able to keep a mk3 running without too much hassle.
Mk2's definately look the best though if you want a retro look and you want to be different to your mates.

no experience of driving a mk3, but the mk2 looks so much sexier !!
Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

Mk2's are not fast? i guess it's relative to what you compare them to.
But if you're thinking of chopping in a mk2 to buy a mk3, i think you may be dissapointed?
As for interiors, they do look a bit old. But again i think that part of the charm of the car! i like the angular dash as i think it suits the lines of the car
