Remote Alarm and Imboilizer Failed
« on: 15 February 2004, 23:05 »
Hi guys. I just change my mk4 golf orginal head unit to Sony Xplod CDX MP40 and the new HU works fine. However, after changing my HU my remote alarm and imboilizer can no longer operate. Have i messed anything up ? Is there any way i can get my remote alarm and imboilizer to work together with my new HU. Thanks

not sure why this would affect your alarm/immobiliser, have you connected the memory 12v+ and the ignition 12v+ the corretc way round?? i know on some cars you have to swap em over as the factory loom can vary from the plug set up on the head unit, there should be 2 push connectors between the head unit and its plug, red and yellow, swap em over and see if that helps?? if not you may have blown a fuse or some thing??? ???

Mine does a very similar thing, but only when ive turned the key to stop the engine turning but leave the stereo on for a few mins, finish a song or kiss the bird goodnight that kind of thing, i pull the key out an the stereo stays on and no remote central no wheel lock etc! not sure why it does it though, all i do is put the key back in start the engine and swicth off, and bobs ya unkle remote works an is all good! but i think it used to do that before i put dif hu in! ??? 8)

Its all better now very shiny, but now the windows have gone again! and shocks are squeaking like mice!!aarrgghhh

I have just tried installing my sony HU into my Golf and it has done exactly the same, once installed the HU works fine but the central locking and alarm etc do not work!! Deadly, especially as my door lock has been buggered by a would be thief.

The converter I bought for the stereo was from Halfords, can you get any others?? Once I rweplaced my original HU the central locking and alarm works perfect!!!!

Dodge!  Any ideas any1?????

I had this same problem with a sony head unit.
With mine it was that the stereo installers had used the wrong wiring harness and it was conecting the ariel to 12v.
This caused it to blow the convenience ECU.

glad im sticking with the standard gamma and boot changer for now then as it sound like theres a bit of un compatability out there!!!!,  i think the sound from the gamma is ok, im getting a lead which plugs in the back to give pre outs and remotes for an amp, as i like the blue/red lights that go with the dash any thing else would look out of place to me!!!!, but thats just my opinion!!!
