HI guys,
already purchased a formal suit for the big day its a  metallic silver colour to go with my car with red piping on the trousers resembling the tasteful floormats on the Ed30,what are you all wearing????

I have bought white pants, shoes and a jacket, and black tight t-shirts.

And I also have black-red-white t-shirt, polo, and sweater, all with red GTI logo on the chest.

I haven't got anything to wear - spent all my money on the Ed 30... I'll have to go naked - au naturel.

I have only the t-shirt and sweater, I have no VW pants. So I guess I go naked from waist down... Hope the queen will not get a heart attack from seeing my HUGE equipment.  :smug:

Thing is (and this is not an inflammatory comment,  more of a question) can the ED30 handle 310BHP?  Extra power is no good without better underpinnings...

Personally I like the both the ED30 and the GTi, I went for the GTi as I couldn't afford the ED30 - simple choice for me..    I must say that I do prefer the body coloured coding on the ED30 and I reckon VW should have done that on all GTi's... i just dont't like the unpainted skirts black bits... but that is a personal preference.

As for the ED30 v GTi bickering, it's the same as "my dad is harder than your dad" type arguments that always going on in school... and here was I thinking we grew out of them as we got older

lol... and by the way Northerner, even though I'm from the South, my Edition 30 is harder than your GTI

Nothing wrong from the south. In fact I would go as far as to say that even my MKIV GTi is harder than his, purley because its from the south.

Tell you what, lets get your ED30 and my GTi and ram them head on at 60mph... who ever gets out and manages to walk away wins...
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

ITS JUST HIT ME.
THE REASON THE EDITION 30 WAS NEVER GIVEN SERIAL NUMBERS SUCH AS THE OTHER ANNIVERSARY MODELS,BECAUSE IT WILL BE GIVEN THE ROYAL CREST (BY APPOINTMENT TO HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN).
SO I PRESUME THAT I CAN NOW DISPLAY THE CREST ON THE BONNET.....

I got my invite as well.  Gave details of the event with timings and gave a list of all edition 30 owners, who will be knighted!  All in alphabetical order.  I will be wearing my traditional clothing (shalwar chamise) with the tartan pattern and red piping around the cuffs, and edition 30 written in my mother tongue (urdu)!!!!
ED30 gti 5dr pearlescent black with DSG, xenons, bluetooth, tinted windows, ipod, rear parking sensors, highline....and a huge grin!

Isn't that a bit risky?  I might get whiplash, but then again, if thats how you Northerners settle your disputes then....

lol       can't wait to get my crest... and the knighthood.  I think we will have to get silver plaques with our names and the Order we belong to ... something like, 'By Appointment to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Manufacturers and Suppliers of the Seminal Golf GTI Edition 30 - not to be mistaken for the well intentioned but plainly inferior standard GTI reserved for the Commoners' and then another plaque with something like 'Sir XXXXX, Knight of the Order of The Edition 30'
