Thing is (and this is not an inflammatory comment,  more of a question) can the ED30 handle 310BHP?  Extra power is no good without better underpinnings...

Personally I like the both the ED30 and the GTi, I went for the GTi as I couldn't afford the ED30 - simple choice for me..    I must say that I do prefer the body coloured coding on the ED30 and I reckon VW should have done that on all GTi's... i just dont't like the unpainted skirts black bits... but that is a personal preference.

As for the ED30 v GTi bickering, it's the same as "my dad is harder than your dad" type arguments that always going on in school... and here was I thinking we grew out of them as we got older
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

Only £22500 for the edition 30 , i thought the resales values where ment to be way higher then standard GTi's, looks like i was right in saying there would be no difference between whether you have one with nasty red piping or not!.(also Volkswagen.co.uk used search is the same). That means ill have to shell out for an edition 30 just so that i can say , ive had tea with elizabeth on the lawn!!

You make me laugh Phil. One minute you hate the ED30, next minute you'll buy one when the prices drop, next minute the misses says you can't have it despite wanting it, next minute it's crap!

I'm happy with my GTi as the saving over an ED30 enabled me to buy a house, and I've never really gone in for tuning cars so the ability to get 310bhp doesn't matter to me.

It is obvious Phil really really wants Ed30, he is just coming up with different explanations in order to soothe the pain of not having Ed30.

What I find incredible is that you are not tempted by the possibility of having 300hp in your command!

More to the point, I'm not interested in trying to insure 300bhp. Or to wipe out my warranty.

there are warranties available from tuners like B&B etc

True, but it's not for me. If I wanted a faster car I'd of bought a faster car.
2017 GTi Clubsport arrived June 2017
2007 Shadow Blue GTi, sold on after 10 years ownership

I've got a great corgi skin suit, with matching handbag. It's amazing how they've used the tail for the handle, I'm sure the queen will be VERY impressed!

I cant justify spending out at least 12 grand to get a version of a GTi that i currently already own,(housemove and Baby Arrival) i dont want a basic spec ed30 cus i think that would be very backward move. Im not gutted as all you edition 30 owners would think i am and keep harping on or jumping on the band wagon about it, .If i didnt discover the VW GTi last september then i guess i would of looked into it, but im in no way disapointed with what i have, and thats something is my pride and joy, and its blue! so sorry to piss on the bonfire so to speak
