Well I did it and survived!!

Was very nervous about taking my 6 week old, just over 1100 miles on the clock ED30 on a track day but I thought whats the point in having a car like this and not exploring its potential.

Weather was a small concern as thunderstorms were predicted but luckily we only had a few showers, most laps were in the dry (as my tyres will testify!!

). Got to the start line after a safety brief and was placed in group 1 (first on the track)

Lots of diff motors around, inc a good few VW's

Never saw these on the track though, but there was a guy in his 60's driving a Mk1 GTI (good work fella!

)
Some of the competition on the day

The RS4 was awesome, driven by some total nutcase and very very quick.
On to the track with my pride and joy

ED30 leading the way!

Reigning in the competition!

Speed detector was good for keeping an eye on the speed, didnt have time to look at my dials!!

Had a really good day, lots of people commented on the GTI saying how quick it was, even one of the instructors in the schools WRX Scooby had trouble keeping up (his words, not mine

). Imagine what it would be like if it was fully run in!
Alloys were black with brake dust at the end of the day and the right had tyres a tad melted

but other than that no problems at all. Was averaging 16 - 17 mpg, grip was fantastic from the Continentals and I think I could have pushed even harder at times.
Had a really good time, would totally recommend it, but do drive within your limits, as the instructors say at the beginning, you never run out of grip, power or brakes on the track, only talent!
