I have had both and would never go back to an 8v. having said that i have an 8v at the moment (mk3) but thats purely down to insurance costs!!

get a 16v!

Vaughn's got ya there

Had a few 8's and 16's.

16v's hold more value than 8's (apart from g60's)

bigger brakes on 16v's, leccy windows as standard, dont come in bright blue so not worth buying  kiddin

later spec 8v's have a better interior

Im an 8v'er myself.

8v... Everday of the week!!!

Ask any mechanic that knows about Mk2's and they will tell you the 8v is a better engine!

hey, go one better get one with a 1.8 20v turbo in it, the ultimate mk2, well worth it! I'd love to do it, but that would mean taking the engine out of my Alhambra to put in my gti!!!

Depends how you drive...if you have a heavy foot go for a 16v. Take both for a test drive and put them both up to the red line in 2nd and 3rd.

Anyone for an 8 valve now?.....No?...I didn't expect any.

However if you dont drive like that the 8v is a great motor and still great fun to drive.

I find my 16v plenty torquey enough for everyday driving, never need to rev the balls of it - but I can if I want 2!!!
The only prob I find is that it wants to rev and pull past the rev limiter!

double the valves has got to be better
