Hi, From my experience I'd go for a 16v. it gives that better top end power in my experience. !!! the smile gets bigger the high the revs go .!!!!!!

It really depends what you are looking for ?

Thanks,
Mark

hope it's not the first one you see. get a few under your belt first and pick a nice one.

8vs are less likely to cause you hassle, but as said, 16vs are quicker.

Hello
I've owned both and they're both brilliant drives. it's a difference of low rev power (suck you in your seat) on the 8v and high rev power (thunderbirds are go) on the 16v.
Basically i think that an 8 v is better on the twisties and a 16v is better top end.
It's up to you but as already mentioned don't blow your wad on the first one you see there are loads of really good examples out there, sometimes the best things come to those who wait!

listen to the rest of the guys on here, they know what they're talking about, i've been looking for months, still waiting for "the one" to rear it's head. Test drove one in Swansea but it was cack and the dealers tried to pressurise me into buying it for £1475! screw that. Anyway let us know how you get along. I was looking for just 16valves at one point but now i dont mind whether it's a 16 or an 8. Although i've yet to test an 8. good luck!

mine's always for sale if someone makes an offer

seriously tho, 16vs have more torque and power than 8vs throughout the rev range, despite what the 8v lads say ( i drive an 8v but just accept it haha)

HAve not had a read of the post but I guess what I think it is all about.

Had both - 16v is superior but both are great fun.

Question......................................

Are you going to tune it etc?  This will change your options if you intend to.

the 16v has more power and torque as standard.  The only difference is that the 8vs power picks up lower down in the rev range.

The 8v is very quick anyway, but the 16v will be quicker once over 4k as thats where its powerband is.  Compared to the 8v it might feel a little sluggish pulling away from lower revs but once over 4k ital get going good and proper.  The 8v will pull from low revs and start to tail off around 5.5k although will pull nicely to the redline if you want to.

Its really personal preference.  The 8v is a practical driver, the 16v is a bit more of a racers car  although tbh youll love either

I wouldn'y say that this is the case.. every prob I've had has been something common to both 8 and 16v, e.g leccy windows, clutch, subframe etc...
