I hate the auto wipe function as like some of you have found out it never get's it right. In this case man knows better than machine, I know when I need the windscreen wiped eg when it effects the visibility through the windscreen and also that there's enough water on it so that it doesn't wear the wipers out and scratch the glass!
I must see if I can cancel it through the computer menu or if not when it's first service is due. :undecided:

Agreed.  Mine seems to go mental in light rain.  At this rate I'll be going through a new set of wipers every 6 months.

I've had no problems, it works fine. Why use the Vag com to turn it off??? just move the stalk down and notch and it's turned off anway? Also, if you put it ino auto but use the intermitent wipe doo dah on the top, it stops the auto anyway. My only negative is if you get in the car after its rained (and you've cleaned your car so the water sits nicely) The auto sensor doesn't seem to detect any rain. However a quick flick of the wipers and back to auto and all is well

I think that the 'doo dah' you refer to is the sensitivity adjustment. it does not or should not disable the rain sensor.

I had my car for 1 day of rain before it went back to get fixed, and I have to say the auto rain sensor pi55ed me off thoroughly!!

Its way too sensitive, and even when I adjusted the 'dial' to minimum, the wipers were still going almost full pelt in light drizzle.
I'm the type of person who only wipes my window when I really cant see - I dont mind a few spots of rain on it.
My auto wipers just wanted to go non stop!  I do hope theres a way of disabling it.  I might phone and ask tomorrow morning, since the car is there just now!
