Ok guys. Maybe I am a bit jelous cos I know that i wont get one of those cars.  But it is still the whole idea of morals. You teach your child to just assume he is going to get everything they want and where are they going to end up? Offer me a nice Merc SL500 and i sure as hell would not mind or refuse. But chances are I wont appreciate the car.

So fine! I admit! I envy those buggers and yes, MANUGTI turned out good. But. He paid for his first car. If his dad wants to buy him the GTI as a present then i'm ok with that. But I just feel that parents who give there kids expensive cars for there first car is madness.

It's not about how anyone spends their money - That's entirely up to them - But it's about how some (also read most) kids being given everything then expect everything to be given to them, become demanding, and consequently become spoilt brats. It doesn't matter if it's expensive cars or expensive trainers etc.

If you can't understand this....Well, I'll say no more because I'll be wasting my time.

....Agreed - Each to their own. No matter how wealthy you are there's someone wealthier, and no matter how poor you are there's someone poorer. I'm only bothered by it inasmuch as spoilt brats usually grow up into arsehole adults, but as long as I don't have to deal them it doesn't matter to me - It's their problem except that it doesn't add up to a very nice society/community.

I think I can say that although I have bought my 16yo daughter expensive presents sometimes she has never whiningly asked me for anything. I'm divorced but my daughter lives mostly with me. When I got back from GTI Inters I was surprised to be given this:

I am really happy that at least RR agrees with me. My brothers, Andy (5 years old) and James (8 years old). They both have a PSP and playstations and computers and in general are spoilt. i am spoilt. i have everything I want and more.

But what I am trying to say is that I worked for what I wanted. If I want a cellphone. I get high marks. I think its a fine deal. But when it comes to guys getting expensive cars that they dont care for nor have respect for that makes me angry. My parents may be traditional and yes, times have changed. But I thibk that parents seem to think that if they spoil their kids with exppensive cars and gadgest they will love them. Yes. Maybe they will love them, but not in the same way.

I think that RR's post and that letter from his daughter are a perfect example. Maybe if he spoilt the hell out of her... Would she have writtten that letter?" or would that letter have said something like....

Daddy.. Can I have a Merc SL500? If not I'm running away from home!
