what is it?

ive been working on my 16v today, took off the inlet etc to get to that water flange cause it needed replacing, all went well, the leak is gone and its all back together and working,.... but, then i found this


i know ive seen it before and im sure its important for something, but i cant remember where it came from.

someone please relieve me from the worry that i have to out and fiddle with the car some more

i think i know now, luckily its not from my car, its from one of my old ones, cheers tho
